How Does HorseFil Work?

The six biological pathways this formula targets, what published research supports for each, and the one missing piece of information that limits any firm conclusion.

This page explains the biological pathways HorseFil's ingredients are intended to act on. A note on framing before we start: describing a mechanism is not the same as demonstrating a result. Every pathway below is real and documented in the scientific literature. What is not established is that this particular blend, at its undisclosed dosages, moves any of them meaningfully in practice.

Read this first: HorseFil has not been tested as a finished product in a clinical trial. Neither have the overwhelming majority of supplements in this category. Everything below is extrapolated from research on the individual ingredients, usually at dosages higher than a single daily gummy is likely to contain.

Pathway one: nitric oxide and vasodilation

This is the most mechanically straightforward part of the formula. Nitric oxide is a signalling molecule that tells the smooth muscle lining blood vessels to relax. When it does, vessels widen and blood flow improves — which affects everything from exercise capacity to erectile function.

HorseFil covers two independent routes to nitric oxide production:

  • L-Arginine is the direct amino acid substrate that nitric oxide synthase converts into nitric oxide. This is the classic pathway, and it is oxygen-dependent.
  • Dietary nitrate from beet root follows the nitrate–nitrite–nitric oxide pathway, which works independently of the enzyme above and functions particularly well in low-oxygen conditions such as intense exercise.

Formulating for both is genuinely good design — they are complementary rather than redundant. The catch is dosage. Studies showing performance effects from beetroot typically use concentrated juice shots delivering several hundred milligrams of nitrate, and L-Arginine trials commonly use three to six grams daily. Fitting either into a gummy alongside six other ingredients is a real constraint.

Pathway two: the stress and cortisol axis

Chronically elevated cortisol suppresses testosterone, degrades sleep quality and produces the specific kind of tiredness that does not resolve with rest. This is where Ashwagandha sits, and it is the best-supported part of the entire formula.

Multiple randomised, placebo-controlled trials have examined ashwagandha root extract against perceived stress scales and serum cortisol, with reasonably consistent findings. There is also separate evidence on sleep quality. The practical relevance is indirect but real: if a supplement improves your sleep, your daytime energy improves as a consequence — no hormonal mechanism required.

Pathway three: hormonal support

Tongkat Ali is the ingredient carrying this claim. The proposed mechanism involves compounds called eurycomanones influencing the release of testosterone bound to sex hormone binding globulin, thereby increasing the free — biologically active — fraction rather than total production.

The trial evidence is real but should be understood accurately. Studies showing meaningful effects have generally been conducted in men with low baseline testosterone, in older men, or under significant physical stress. Extrapolating those results to a healthy 35-year-old with normal hormones is not supported. The honest summary: promising in specific populations, unproven as a general enhancer.

Pathway four: endurance and oxygen efficiency

Beet root nitrate has some of the most robust evidence of any ingredient here, though for a narrower outcome than the marketing implies. The documented effect is on exercise economy — reducing the oxygen cost of a given workload, which improves time to exhaustion. This shows up consistently in controlled trials, particularly in recreational rather than elite athletes.

Maca is also positioned for endurance. Its traditional use in the Andes is well documented, but controlled human trials on physical performance are limited and mixed. Treat this as traditional use rather than established science.

Pathway five: libido

Two ingredients target this. Maca has several small randomised trials showing improvements in self-reported sexual desire, and interestingly these effects appear to occur without measurable changes in testosterone or other hormones — suggesting a different and not fully understood mechanism.

Horny Goat Weed contains icariin, which does show PDE5-inhibiting activity in laboratory settings. PDE5 inhibition is the mechanism behind prescription erectile dysfunction drugs, which sounds significant — but icariin's potency in these studies is orders of magnitude below pharmaceutical agents, and the concentrations used are far above what supplement dosages achieve in the body. It is an interesting finding that is routinely oversold.

Pathway six: antioxidant and vascular support

Grape Seed Extract supplies proanthocyanidins, studied for antioxidant activity and effects on vascular health and capillary integrity. This is a supporting ingredient. It is unlikely to be doing much independently at blend dosages, but it is a sensible inclusion alongside the circulation-focused components.

Putting it together honestly

The formulation logic is coherent. Someone who understands this category designed it — the combination of two nitric oxide pathways, an adaptogen with real evidence, and a hormonal-support botanical is not random. That is more than can be said for many competing products.

The unanswerable question is dosage. Without a published supplement facts panel showing milligrams per ingredient, there is no way to determine whether these pathways are being engaged at meaningful levels or gestured at. That single omission is the difference between a well-formulated product and a well-marketed one, and we cannot tell you which this is.
